Monday marks the National Day of the Cowgirl in Colorado and across the nation.
The annual holiday, which falls on Sept. 15, celebrates women "who embody the spirit of the American cowgirl—a spirit embodied by women who show strength, confidence, and resiliency, and who aspire to contribute to the western way of life," organizers say.
That includes farming and ranching, rodeo and equine sports and activities.
