Colorado secured emergency funds to keep a nutritional program for women, infants and children operating during the federal shutdown, Governor Jared Polis said Wednesday.
Families will not see an abrupt end to benefits, however, "the state cannot fill the void left by the federal government" in a prolonged shutdown, Polis said.
Regular funding ran out Sept. 30.
