UPDATE Waging war on a criminal syndicate, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, aided by local SWAT teams, executed nine search warrants early Wednesday in raids across the Denver area. The illegal enterprise, operating under the cover of a limited liability company, is tied to almost $1 million in a variety of thefts throughout the Front Range - including autos delivered at chop shops.
The lightning police raids followed an 18-month grand jury investigation. "A massive crime ring has been brought to a screeching halt,” said Michael Dougherty, Boulder County District Attorney. Five people were arrested. The search warrants were executed in unincorporated Boulder and Adams counties and Denver, Westminster, Wheat Ridge, Federal Heights and Johnstown, the sheriff's office said.
