SEEK COPPER PIPE THIEVES IN BBQ JOINT BURGLARY; ESTIMATED $100,000 IN DAMAGES

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is seeking to identify three burglary suspects accused of cutting out copper pipes from a BBQ restaurant - most likely for sale to a junk dealer or scrap yard. The current price of copper is about $4.85 per pound. The daring burglary caused more than $100,000 in structural damages at Bono’s Pit BBQ in the 9300-block of East Dry Creek Road in Centennial on Sept. 7 at about 4:30 a.m. Detectives determined burglars "entered the back patio, removed the copper pipes from several cooling units, stuffed them into suitcases, and fled the scene," the sheriff's office said. If you have information, call the sheriff office's tip line at (720) 874-8477.
