A state trooper found a dying woman in a wrecked car and police arrested the driver who snapped a photo, sprinted home for a change of clothes - and sped back to the tragic scene in another auto in Commerce City.
The crashed vehicle was discovered at 74th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, Commerce City police said on social media early Saturday. "The picture in this post is of the severely damaged vehicle we located at the driver’s home," police said. "Officers learned the driver and his passenger were involved in an earlier collision in the 7200-block of I-270 in which he struck a parked RV," police said. "The driver fled the scene, went home, switched vehicles, and said he was attempting to transport the woman to the hospital when he was pulled over for speeding."
The driver faces a variety of charges, including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident, police said.
