UPDATE A wireless shelter-in-place alert meant for people in a two-block radius of South Vine Street in Denver was mistakenly broadcast citywide Saturday night.
"Recipients outside that area should disregard the alert," the Public Safety Department said a little while later. Police were involved in a standoff at 2495 South Vine Street, near the University of Denver. A person was taken into custody a few hours later and the shelter-in-place order was lifted early Sunday, police said. No injuries were reported. In a statement Sunday afternoon, the public safety department said: "We are actively reviewing why this alert was sent citywide rather than to the intended small area near the incident. "We acknowledge the delay between the alert going out and social media update and are working to make sure it doesn’t happen again."
