There's a high risk of fire for much of Colorado as high winds rumble from the Rockies, across the I-25 corridor and toward the Kansas state line, the National Weather Service warned.
"Dry air will fill back in during the day Friday, coinciding with the peak in wind speeds," NWS Boulder/Denver said. "The Red Flag Warning has been expanded to include Boulder, the western Denver suburbs and the Palmer Divide."
Electric service outages are possible to prevent downed wires from igniting fires.
To the southeast, "Strong winds with gusts up to 60 mph and low humidity values near 15% will combine to produce dangerous fire weather conditions across Kiowa and Prowers Counties," NWS Pueblo said.
