Zachary Jones was sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for breaking into post offices in Watkins, Sedalia and Dacono and making off with certified mail, postal carrier uniforms and other items.
The stolen property was recovered in Jone's hotel room and auto, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said Saturday.
The wannabe postman was also found in possession of a gun, a point-of-sale terminal, personnel files, mailbox keys and post office box applications, officials said. Jones had a prior criminal record and was prohibited from carrying the gun.
