FIRE SCORCHES 130 ACRES IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

A 130-acre brush fire broke out Saturday at Highway 93 and Highway 72 in Jefferson County, shutting down traffic in all directions, officials said. No buildings were lost. No injuries were reported. The fire may have started along railroad tracks. Fire crews responded from across the region. "With very dry conditions, the fire quickly grew in size while being pushed by strong winds" of 30 to 40 mph, Arvada Fire said. "Firefighters worked for several hours to get containment on the fire, working the flanks to extinguish the fire front and hot spots."
