CHILD ESCAPES STERLING FIRE, FAMILY DOG DIES

A child escaped a fire Tuesday at the Applewood Trailer Court in Sterling - but the family's dog perished. "Crews deployed multiple attack lines on both sides as another crew entered the rear to perform a search for a reported missing child," the fire department said. "The child was confirmed to be out of the home shortly after. "Crews quickly knocked down the fire and focused on searching for a missing dog, which sadly perished in the fire," the department said.
