COPS CAPTURE MURDER SUSPECT WIELDING BLOWTORCH

A suspect in a Colorado murder was arrested after wielding a blowtorch and rifle during a police standoff in Wyoming.

Fernando Rodriguez, 44, of Alamosa, who fled southern Colorado in a stolen auto, was captured Wednesday at a home
in the Sybille Canyon area of Albany County, Wyoming. He faces charges of second-degree murder, auto theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and felony menacing.

"During the standoff, the suspect exited the residence at one point carrying a blowtorch and a gas can before retreating inside," the Albany County Sheriff's Office said. "On another occasion, the suspect exited with a rifle and again retreated into the home."

Rodriguez surrendered after deputies lobbed gas into the home.
The murder of Ryan Barnes, 49, occurred on Lincoln Avenue in Alamosa on March 1, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. The manner of death wasn't disclosed. Barnes was also from Alamosa.
