DEPUTIES ARREST SUSPECT IN STRING OF EASTER MORNING ARSON FIRES

Dana Rempel, 33,
was arrested as a suspect in a series of Easter morning arson fires in the Hanover section of El Paso County, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.

"All fires were extinguished with no structural damage or loss of life," officials said. The suspect was located after suffering an apparent drug overdose. The fires were set at about 9 a.m. Sunday. 911 callers reported a man fleeing on into a field.

Drones "
identified approximately seven separate fires, along with one vehicle fire, within a one-mile area extending southwest along the creek bed near High Stakes View," officials said.

Rempel was located unconscious at about 11 a.m. near Indian Village Heights and Boca Raton Heights. Deputies administered Narcan to revive him. He was held on $50,000 bond.

El Paso County Sheriff Joseph Roybal thanked neighbors, saying: "Y
our vigilance and quick decision to report the fire made a critical difference."
