DOPE STOP: TRAFFIC VIOLATION YIELDS METH HAUL ON I-70

Authorities seized more than 80 pounds of meth and wads of cash during a routine traffic stop on I-70 in Eagle County, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

The driver was identified as Andre Kamil Anderson, 50, of Glendale, Arizona. "While the stop began as a routine enforcement action and the driver was issued a warning for the traffic violations, additional indicators prompted the detective to take a closer look," the sheriff's office said.

A police K9 detected 16 large, sealed plastic bags of meth. Anderson was held on $100,000 bond at the Eagle County Detention Facility. He was arrested by members of a special narcotics squad called GRANITE, the Gore Range Narcotic Interdiction Team Task Force, on April 3.
