COP KNIFED, SUSPECT SHOT DEAD IN AURORA

UPDATE

A police officer was stabbed and critically injured Thursday in Aurora, officials said.

The suspect was shot and killed in the late afternoon horror in the 1
4000-block of East Stanford Circle, near Cherry Creek State Park. "I thank God, and I am serious about that, that our officer is not dead," said Todd Chamberlain, an Aurora police officer quoted by CBS Colorado.
A large, bloodied kitchen knife was found at the scene of the crime. The officer was stabbed in the head. The suspect was apparently suffering a psychiatric emergency, police said. The officer underwent surgery. [Photo: Aurora Police]
