BROKEN ANKLES: BRONZE STATUE CUT FROM BASE IN GREELEY PARK

A life-sized bronze statue was cut at the ankles and stolen from Glenmere Park in Greeley - in broad daylight. The Prize Catch was carried off at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday - the latest in a string of high-profile metal thefts, including the taking of two statues from outside a church in downtown Denver. "A white box truck was spotted in the immediate area at the time of the theft and is believed to be involved," Greeley police said. "We are asking local metal recyclers to keep a sharp eye out for bronze material that appears to be part of a statue," police said. If you have information or surveillance video, call Greeley police (970) 350-9605. [Photos: Greeley Police]
