COPS ZAP SUSPECT ARMED WITH KNIFE IN COMMERCE CITY

Officers fired "less-lethal" weapons to subdue a domestic assault suspect armed with a knife in Commerce City, police said Tuesday.

"Officers used what's called a 40-millimeter launcher to subdue him, then also deployed a taser," police said. "Without any lethal force, we were able to cuff him." The suspect is facing charges of Felony Menacing, Aggravated 2nd Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault - Strangulation, Domestic Violence, Resisting Arrest and Obstruction charges, police said. "He had allegedly beaten, suffocated, and threatened to 'gut' his victim with a knife, which he had in his hand inside a pocket when we confronted him," police said.

The incident occurred May 1.
