TIRES BURN AT HIGH PLAINS RACEWAY

A prairie fire spread to a tire pile and belched thick black smoke at High Plains Raceway in eastern Arapahoe County.

The sheriff's office said. "Five deputies responded to assist as multiple fire departments and a helicopter worked to contain the blaze. Approximately 20 acres burned."

The popular raceway is located northeast of Deer Trail along U.S. Highway 36. No injuries were reported in Tuesday's blaze.
