Crashing floodwaters killed a man Sunday as heavy rain drenched the Beulah Valley and Aspen Acres burn scar, the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office said.
Weather radar estimated 1 to 1½ inches of rain fell over the Beulah area in 90 minutes, officials said.
A Flight for Life chopper crew located the victim in a creek about two miles from where he had been standing near Highway 78 and Central Avenue.
"Beulah fire personnel attempted to rescue him when he was quickly swept downstream," officials said.
The Aspen Acres Fire roared over 100,000 acres of Pueblo, Custer and Huerfano counties last month, cutting a giant burn scar.
