A suspect in a murder in the Denver suburb of Glendale was arrested in Mexico and returned to the United States.
Robeiker Mejias-Gonzalez, a Venezuelan citizen, was detained Sept. 17 for "not having legal status" to be in Mexico, the U.S. Marshals Service said. Mexican authorities "learned he had an active arrest warrant for homicide in Colorado," the marshals service said. A male youth was fatally shot Aug. 31 at 5001 East Mississippi Avenue in Glendale, according to local police.
Federal agents executed a search warrant at the address last week with the assistance of the Arapahoe County SWAT team.
The suspect was jailed in Miami pending extradition to Colorado, the marshals service said.
