OUTRAGE AS THUGS SMASH CHURCH STATUES IN PUEBLO

Five masked and hooded thugs smashed religious statues of St. Mary, St. Anne and St. Michael at a Catholic church in Pueblo.

"While this behavior is appalling and unacceptable, there is no indication that this incident meets the criteria for a hate crime under Colorado law," according to police.

The crime occurred Sept. 5 at St. Anne's Church at 2701 East 12th Street. Damage was estimated at $6,000. A flower planter was also damaged in the 1:45 a.m. attack.
