Towering flames devoured a rural home Monday on Highway 82 in the Western Slope community of Carbondale.
"The home was occupied when the fire started, but all residents escaped safely," according to Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District. No injuries were reported.
Incident Commander Ashley Buss Greene said: "The surrounding vegetation created the potential for a wildfire, so our priority was to contain the fire to the structure and protect the surrounding area." Roaring Fork, Glenwood Springs and Aspen firefighters also responded to the blaze.
