"Old wiring and excessive use of electricity" caused a house fire in La Junta early Thursday, the fire department said. The blaze broke out in the attic of 14 West 7th Street. A city electric crew disconnected power to the dwelling.
The house was built in 1888, according to Zillow. Firefighters "found smoke and a smoldering fire from two roof trusses and insulation," officials said. "There was old knob and tubing wiring running across the trusses." No injuries were reported. La Junta is located in Otero County in southern Colorado. [Photo: La Junta Fire]
