Medics revived two cats overcome by smoke at a house fire.
Two other felines escaped unharmed, according to South Metro Fire Rescue. There were no human injuries.
Investigators determined the cause to be "improper disposal of smoking materials" in the blaze at 6889 South Allison Way in unincorporated Jefferson County on Monday, officials said. South Metro also offered this advice to smokers: "Wherever you smoke, use deep, sturdy ashtrays. If ashtrays are not available, use a metal can or pail. Never empty smoking material directly into a trash can. Place the ashtrays or metal cans away from anything that can burn ... Before you throw out butts and ashes, make sure they are out. Put them out in water or sand." [Photos: South Metro Fire Rescue]
