A teenager, 15, has been accused of "randomly and viciously" assaulting an Adams City High School student, Commerce City police said.
The victim suffered serious injuries "courageously" fighting off the attacker, police said.
The suspect, who followed the student and fled the crime scene on foot, attends Lester Arnold High School and faces charges of second-degree assault by strangulation, police said.
The crime - off school grounds - occurred Thursday in the 7400-block on Quebec Street. School video surveillance led police to the suspect who was arrested in less than 24 hours.
