RAIN SEEN TAPERING OFF IN FLOOD ZONE

Rain is forecast to abate Tuesday in southwestern Colorado after several days of severe flooding, the National Weather Service said.

Flood watches continue across the southern face of the San Juan Mountains. Flood warnings are posted for areas near Vallecito as well as the San Juan River at Pagosa Springs, forecasters said. Waters destroyed at least two homes. Other structures have been damaged. The governor's office declared a state of emergency over the weekend.
