SICK SCAM AIMED AT LOST PET OWNERS

CBS Denver reports scammers - impersonating a local animal clinic - are calling owners of lost pets demanding payment for veterinary services via the Internet.

The scammers apparently get their information from missing pet posters in Denver area neighborhoods. They don't have the pets.

The crooks tell the pet owners they owe $3,000 for surgery but would discount the fee if paid to a fraud called "Animal Care Credit," CBS Denver said.
