Rescuers in Weld County worked for three hours Sunday in sub-freezing weather to lift a wayward horse from a ditch, the Ault-Pierce Fire Department said.
The horse escaped injury but not his predicament.
Eaton Fire, Windsor Severance Fire, Weld County Animal Control, and Banner Health Ambulance joined the operation - as did a lifting tractor. "Thanks to the persistence and coordination of all agencies, the horse was successfully rescued without injury and happily reunited with its owners," officials said.
