RED FLAG FIRE WARNING FROM LINCOLN COUNTY TO DENVER TO WYOMING STATE LINE

 

UPDATE

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag fire warning Thursday for a 200-mile stretch of Colorado from the community of Karval in Lincoln County to Denver to the Wyoming state line. 


"Gusty winds to 45 mph and low relative humidity values around 15% will create conditions favorable for rapid fire spread along the lower foothills, I-25 corridor, and adjacent plains through this afternoon," forecasters said. The fire warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Avoid burning or activities that may trigger sparks. West Metro Fire asked drivers to stow towing chains as they can trigger sparks on pavement. The Elk Creek Fire Department recommended delaying welding jobs Earlier Thursday, t
he weather service issued a high wind warning through midday for winds around 75 mph in the Front Range mountains and northern foothills.
