ANOTHER TWIST IN HUNTER S. THOMPSON CASE, NYT SAYS
The widow of journalist Hunter S. Thompson alleges his son and daughter-in-law may have tampered with the scene of his death in Colorado to make it look like a suicide, a media report said Sunday.
The New York Times cites a text to former officials of the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office. However, his son, Juan, told the Times: "I do not know why she raised this."
Thompson, 67, died at his home in Woody Creek from a gunshot wound to the head on Feb. 20, 2005.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation opened a review of the case in October following a request from widow Anita Thompson.
While there is no new evidence, “We understand the profound impact Hunter S. Thompson had on this community and beyond,” the Pitkin County sheriff, Michael Buglione, said at the time.
