A skier survived a backcountry avalanche Sunday on Postage Stamp Run at Berthoud Pass in Grand County.
"The skier was able to remain on top of the debris and self-extricate after being carried approximately 200 yards down the slope," Grand County Search and Rescue said. "They were able to maintain all their gear and ski out with their partner." The skier wasn't injured. Officials added: "Thank you to the multiple people who witnessed the avalanche and called 911 to report it. We are grateful for the two skiers that were close by and able to quickly reach the subject and confirm that they were okay." Grand County EMS and sheriff's deputies also responded. FLASH NEWS: In Mountain View, California, police corralled a sealion pup named "Babymac" in a parking lot. "Trained responders were able to rescue and transport him to our Sausalito hospital," The Marine Mammal Center said.
