Think twice if you're tempted to buy fireworks - even "harmless" party sparklers.
There were unconfirmed reports of fireworks being set off just before a five-alarm fire on Jan. 2 that destroyed a building under construction on Leetsdale Drive in Denver. The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
This social media photo - from Switzerland - captures the moment champagne sparklers ignited a ceiling at a New Year's party. The horror blaze at a packed nightclub took 40 lives - including the waitress hoisting the sparklers.
The Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control says: "Use only permissible fireworks, purchased from a Colorado licensed fireworks store, stand, or tent."
