RISKED LIFE TO PULL MAN FROM BURNING AUTO IN LAKEWOOD

West Metro Fire honored Chris Brown for putting his life on the line by freeing a man trapped in a burning auto on Coal Mine Avenue in Lakewood on Dec. 14 with the help of three passersby.
Brown, who was out on a stroll with his wife, climbed through the driver’s window and freed the man from the steering wheel "just as the fire extended into the interior of the vehicle," West Metro said. The passersby pulled the man out.
The driver Brown rescued, Daniel Armstrong, is the son of a senior West Metro officer. The identity of the passersby that helped save Armstrong isn't known. They drove off while firefighters attended to the single-vehicle crash. Police asked Brown to stick around as he witnessed the accident. Brown was awarded the West Metro Citizen Award at Tuesday night's fire district board meeting.
