Coleman Shallbetter, 21, a saddle bronc rider from Gunnison, was thrown from a horse and stepped on during the final weekend of the National Western Stock Show, CBS Denver reports.
Shallbetter suffered multiple broken ribs Friday.
The horse, Hillbilly Havoc, is "a good horse," Shallbetter told CBS Colorado from his hospital bed on Sunday. "She kind of got me with the front feet ... but the back feet is what did it."
