ALL SAFE AFTER IDAHO SPRINGS MOTEL FIRE BUT KITTEN MISSING

Nine residents of the Idaho Springs Motel were evacuated without injury when fire broke out early Wednesday - but a kitten was missing in the aftermath, the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office said.

Flames traveled through the old motel's attic, damaging seven rooms, officials said. Residents were assisted with temporary housing.

"
Responders arrived and found heavy smoke in the area," officials said.

The motel is located in the 2600-block of Colorado Boulevard in Idaho Springs. The cause is under investigation. [Photo: Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office]
