DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WHEN TRAFFIC SIGNALS GO DARK?

When encountering a broken traffic signal, Colorado law requires drivers to treat the intersection as a four-way stop, according to the Louisville Police Department.

Come to a complete stop at the stop line or before entering the intersection.
• Look carefully in all directions.
• Yield to the vehicle that arrived first.
• If two vehicles arrive at the same time, yield to the driver on your right.
On social media, police said: "The photo in this post shows what can happen when drivers fail to follow the law at an inoperable signal. One vehicle stopped as required. Another driver did not, which resulted in a crash that could have been prevented."
