HE WENT SOBER AFTER NIGHT IN JAIL IN 1983, THANKS JAILERS

A man who spent a night in the Douglas County jail four decades ago said he has been sober ever since.

The sheriff's office shared a letter of thanks (above) from the former inmate on social media Friday.

Officials said the man "
went on to live a long professional life with significant responsibility, and is now 82 years old, retired, and grateful for the direction his life took afterward."
