A pan of cooking oil overheated and seriously burned three people Thursday in Colorado Springs and injured their puppy, the fire department said.
There was no fire. Damage to the residence was limited.
Officials remind the public: "When frying, use a pan lid or splash guard to stop grease splatter" and "Keep kids and pets out of the kitchen while cooking."
The puppy's burns were minor, the fire department said.
