A motorist suspected of being drunk was severely injured when a train hit an auto early Sunday in Brighton, police said.
The wreckage was located on tracks between East Longs Peak Street and East Bridge Street and the motorist - a man, age 29 - was located near the vehicle and transported to hospital. "The initial investigation indicates the driver was the sole occupant and that his vehicle was on the tracks when it was struck by a northbound train," police said. "Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash." If you have information, call Brighton police at (303) 655-8740. [Photo: Brighton Fire Department]
