Flames erupted in a duplex Thursday in West Denver and the residents and their pets escaped without serious injuries.
"Firefighters located a stubborn basement fire in a duplex" and "an addition to the structure created challenging conditions for crews conducting searches and locating the seat of the fire," the Denver Fire Department said. "All residents were able to exit the home unassisted and were evaluated by EMS on scene," the fire department said. "No transports were required. Two dogs were also accounted for." Engine 9, Engine 20, Engine 23, Truck 12, Truck 23, Tower 4, Rescue 1, District Chief 6 and additional command staff answered the alarm.
