A student at Chatfield High School planned kill a teacher with a 7-inch butcher knife stashed in their backpack, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. The student attended class but couldn't do it. Instead, they "went to the school office with the backpack, asked to speak with a counselor, and disclosed what they had intended to do," the sheriff's office said.
The student, age 16, was arrested and booked into the Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center after Tuesday's incident.
