BICYCLE RIDER DIES CROSSING HIGHWAY 85 AGAINST LIGHT

A bicycle rider - apparently ignoring a traffic signal - was struck and killed by an auto Tuesday night in Brighton.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the bicyclist was crossing Highway 85 at the intersection of E 120th Ave against the red light and was struck by the northbound vehicle," police said.

"The driver remained on scene, was uninjured, and showed no signs of impairment," police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at Platte Valley Medical Center, police said. The accident occurred at about 11:30 p.m.
