Firefighters and police rescued seven ducklings trapped in a storm drain near Wheat Ridge High School after their frantic mother quacked for help. A caller reported hearing "a very determined mother duck quacking" after her brood fell through the grate, fire officials said. "The crew with West Metro Engine 17 responded, removed the grate, and climbed down into the storm drain, carefully lifting the ducklings out one by one," officials said.
Reunited, they waddled off on May 8.
