STUDENT WITH GUN TACKLED AT OVERLAND HIGH SCHOOL IN AURORA

A student packing a loaded gun was chased, tackled and arrested Wednesday at Overland High School in Aurora. No shots were fired. No injuries were reported. The student faces weapons charges. At about 8:40 a.m., the student, age 16, "was spotted with a gun while in the hallways of the high school," police said. "Someone noticed the weapon, shouted out to alert staff members who then chased after the teen and tackled him to the ground."

A school resource officer detained the youth and recovered the "loaded weapon," and the school on East Jewell Avenue was locked down, police said.
