FIREFIGHTING CHOPPER MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING

A firefighting helicopter made a safe emergency landing Tuesday in a field in the community of Rye in Pueblo County, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention & Control said.

The pilot, who was the sole occupant, reported a small electrical fire in the cockpit of the Bell 205 chopper after making a water drop over the Hidden Creek Fire, officials said.

There were no injuries. The pilot was able to employ standard emergency procedures to make the landing.
