HIGH WINDS WHIP ASPEN ACRES INFERNO

The Aspen Acres fire in Pueblo and Custer counties torched 23,000 acres as of Monday evening - and raged overnight.

Containment was zero.

"Due to the high winds of approximately 100 miles per hour, no air support is currently available," the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office said. A number of structures were "affected by the fire," officials said, however, there were no reports of injuries. Beulah, Rye,
Lazy Acres, Bishops Castle, San Isabel and surroundings areas were evacuated, the Custer County Sheriff's Office said. The fire is roughly 20 miles southwest of Pueblo where smoke diminished air quality. A shelter for large animals and livestock was set up at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo.
