AUTO FLEEING COPS CRASHES INTO 16TH STREET BUS IN DENVER

An auto that eluded Commerce City police crossed into Denver, headed downtown - and slammed into an RTD FreeRide bus at 16th and Champa streets.

One of the occupants of the auto was wanted for attempted murder in Sunday's shooting at the 7-Eleven store at Highway 2 and 72nd Avenue in Commerce City.

"Our officers spotted the suspect getting into the passenger seat of a vehicle in Commerce City and attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver of the vehicle eluded us," police said. "We initiated a pursuit which continued into Denver and was then discontinued when the pursuing officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle," police said. The auto's driver and the suspect were injured in Tuesday collision. There were no injuries on the RTD bus. Police had already taken another suspect in the shooting into custody earlier in the week.
