Police shot and killed a gunman who opened fire on officers during a stand-off in Loveland.
Wednesday's shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute in the 3300-block of Banyan Avenue. No hostages were taken.
"Crisis negotiators attempted to establish communication while the subject refused to exit," police said. "Throughout the incident, SWAT personnel employed a variety of tactics to gain the subject's voluntary surrender.
"The subject ultimately exited the residence with a firearm," police said. "Officers again used less-lethal tools in an effort to gain cooperation, but the armed subject refused to cooperate, firing his weapon at nearby officers. Officers returned gunfire."
The gunman was pronounced dead. No other injuries were reported.
