Justin De Nileon Jr., 29, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman found at the scene on an auto accident in Erie.
The Weld County District's Attorney's Office said: "Officers determined that the amount and location of blood was not consistent with a vehicle crash, nor was it consistent with a person being ejected from a vehicle."
The crash occurred June 21 near the intersection of Weld County Road 7 and Weld County Road 6. The woman was 28.
