A media report says health authorities are investigating a case of infectious tuberculosis at the ICE detention facility in Aurora.
In a statement to CBS Denver, the Adams County Health Department said it taking steps to "prevent additional illness at GEO Aurora ICE Processing Center and in the community."
It has yet to be disclosed whether the patient is a detainee or staff member at the facility at 3130 North Oakland Street.
Tuberculosis is a communicable bacterial respiratory disease that can also spread to the kidneys, spine and brain. Symptoms include fever, persistent cough, night sweats, weight loss, fatigue and difficulty breathing.
GEO Group didn't immediately respond to a CBS Denver inquiry.
