DRIVER OF STOLEN AUTO BUSTED AFTER 70 MPH CHASE ON CITY STREET

Leinaala La Shomb, 26, driver of a stolen auto, was arrested after accelerating toward a deputy and speeding off, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said. Tuesday's incident began in the vicinity of Storelocal Storage in the 1900-block of South Valentia Street. The driver fled west onto East Iliff Avenue, reaching speeds of about 70 mph before crashing into another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle suffered serious injuries. A third auto was damaged by crash debris. The driver of the stolen auto also "struck a closed security gate causing extensive damage to both the security gate and the stolen vehicle," the sheriff's office said. "The damage to the vehicle obstructed the driver’s view." No patrol cars were damaged.
